Recently we had the privilege of shooting Lisa & Pete’s wedding! They chose a beautiful venue, just outside of Matlock – East Lodge Hotel. This has easily been one of my favourite wedding venues to date, as it was so intimate. They had East Lodge Hotel all to themselves, which I feel made the day a lot more personal.

I arrived at the hotel early to be with Lisa, where she had stayed the night before, whilst Marcus met Pete at their home in Sheffield.

We never really know what to expect in the mornings, as each wedding is so vastly different. Obviously there is a lot going on, so we try our best to blend in to the background and not get in the way! This time was no different. There were babies to be dressed, shoes to be found, dresses to be put on and champagne to be drunk; all whilst dealing with the nerves of getting ready to say, ‘I do’.

East Lodge Hotel looked beautiful. Luckily the weather was gorgeous, so the ceremony was able to take place outside. The gardens were in full bloom, and the colours were stunning.

We made our way downstairs, anticipating the moment Lisa had been waiting for. When the music started, I shot outside to get the photos of Lisa walking towards me. I know every female wedding photographer probably says this about the bride, but she looked truly stunning. I followed her all the way down the isle, making sure I photographed at every opportunity. Pete’s face was a picture! You could tell he was extremely excited, like a child at Christmas, but also bricking it!

It was a lovely ceremony, and the weather held out for us!

After they were officially married, we let them relax for a while with their family and friends, before stealing them for a few portraits. The grounds of East Lodge Hotel are so pretty – there were so many opportunities for lovely photographs of the newly married couple.

Afterwards, we let them go and fill their boots with the wedding breakfast… And luckily we got some too! The food was absolutely wonderful, we were stuffed! We also like to take the time at this point in the day and review what we’ve taken so far. In between mouthfuls of succulent lamb and treacle sponge, (not together…), we agreed that the photos were beautiful. East Lodge Hotel really gave the day that extra level of intimacy. Some wedding venues cater for more than one wedding at the same time, so it was nice to know that everyone there was there for Lisa & Pete only.

After the wedding breakfast were the speeches, and then the cake cutting and first dance.

It was a beautiful day and we feel honored that they chose us to document it for them. As photographers, we feel more than happy with the images we made for them, as you can probably tell by the sheer volume of Lisa & Pete on our Portfolio! East Lodge Hotel was the perfect venue, and we would highly recommend it to anyone getting married in the Matlock area… They also put on a mean barbecue for the evening buffet!
